Why won’t Facebook accept my Google Authenticator code on a new phone?

Facebook rejects authenticator codes when the Facebook entry was never moved to the new Authenticator app, the phone’s time is wrong, or you are using a code for a different account. Follow these steps
Confirm Facebook appears in Authenticator
Open Google Authenticator and check for a Facebook or Meta entry. If it is missing, codes from other entries will not work for Facebook.
You should see: You know whether the Facebook secret was transferred.
Set automatic date and time
On iPhone, enable Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically, wait a moment, and try one fresh code.
You should see: A correctly timed code is accepted, or Facebook still rejects it.
Use an existing Facebook session to reset 2FA
On a computer or device still logged into Facebook, open security settings, turn on authenticator setup again, and scan the new QR code with Authenticator on the new phone.
You should see: A new Facebook entry appears and its codes sign you in.
Use backup codes or official account recovery
If no session remains, use saved Facebook backup codes. If those are gone, start Facebook’s official “try another way” / account recovery and follow only Meta’s prompts.
