Follow these steps
Open Find My with the correct Apple ID
On another Apple device open Find My, or on a computer go to iCloud.com and sign in with the Apple ID used on the missing iPhone.
You should see: The missing iPhone appears in the device list.
Play a sound or view the map
Select the iPhone and use Play Sound if you may be nearby, or review the map location and Last seen time.
You should see: You hear the phone or see a recent location.
Enable Mark As Lost
If you cannot retrieve it immediately, turn on Mark As Lost with a reachable phone number and message.
You should see: The iPhone locks and can display your contact message when online.
Handle No location found
If Find My says No location found, leave the device in Lost Mode, keep checking periodically, and search the last places it was used. Contact the carrier about suspending service if needed.
