Why won't a new Motorola phone connect after inserting a Visible SIM?

A new Motorola with a Visible SIM often needs a restart, an Airplane Mode toggle, and a few minutes for the Verizon-network profile to activate. Confirm the phone is compatible with Visible and that the SIM is seated flat before assuming the SIM is dead.

Follow these steps
Reseat the Visible SIM
Power the phone off, remove the SIM tray, make sure the Visible SIM sits flat in the correct orientation, then reinsert the tray fully.
You should see: The tray closes smoothly and the phone recognizes that a SIM is present after power-on.
Restart with the SIM left in place
Turn the phone on and leave the SIM inserted. Wait about two minutes after the home screen appears.
You should see: The phone finishes booting and begins searching for a network.
Toggle Airplane Mode
Open Quick Settings, turn Airplane Mode on for about 10 seconds, then turn it off and wait for signal icons to refresh.
You should see: The phone searches again and may show bars or a carrier name.
Check the carrier name and signal
Look at the top of the screen for signal bars and a name such as Visible or Verizon. Also open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs or Mobile network to confirm the SIM is enabled.

Finish activation in the Visible account
