How do I set up a wiped Motorola phone on Assurance Wireless?
Answer
Turn the Motorola on, tap Start, and follow the on-screen setup to connect Wi‑Fi, sign in to a Google account if you want one, and create a new PIN you will remember. If Assurance asks for an account PIN you do not know, use Forgot Account PIN on the carrier’s official setup or account screens.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Write down the new PIN; repeated lockouts can require a wipe again and more setup time.
Follow these steps
Power on and begin setup
Turn on the Motorola phone and tap Start (or Get started). Choose your language and connect to a trusted Wi‑Fi network when asked so setup can download updates.
You should see: The phone moves through the initial setup screens with Wi‑Fi connected.
Insert or activate Assurance service
If the SIM is not already installed, insert the Assurance SIM carefully, or follow on-screen eSIM/activation prompts from Assurance. Stay on official carrier screens only.
You should see: The phone shows signal or confirms the Assurance line is activating.
Create a new phone lock PIN
When setup asks for a screen lock, enter a new PIN you will remember, then enter it again to confirm. Write it down and store it somewhere safe offline.
You should see: The phone accepts the new PIN and continues setup.
Handle Assurance account PIN prompts
If Assurance asks for an account PIN during account setup and you do not know it, choose Forgot Account PIN and follow the carrier’s reset or verification steps on that official screen.
You should see: You bypass or reset the Assurance account PIN and finish carrier enrollment.
Finish Google and home-screen setup
Sign in with a Google account if you want apps and backup, or skip for now if the phone allows. Complete any remaining copy-apps or permission screens, then open the dialer and place a test call.
You should see: Setup reaches the home screen and calling works on Assurance Wireless.

Extra tips
What to look for: Motorola Start setup screens, lock-screen PIN creation, and any Assurance prompt such as Forgot Account PIN?
Before you change anything: Have your Assurance account details and a written copy of the new phone PIN you will create. Use only official Assurance and Google sign-in screens on the phone. Do not skip writing down the new PIN—there may be no easy bypass later. Never share PINs or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
