How do I sign in to PlayStation when date of birth verification fails?

Answer

Start the official PlayStation password reset from the sign-in page and recover with the PSN email or username first. If date-of-birth verification still fails because the DOB on file is wrong, continue through Sony’s account recovery using a previously signed-in device when possible, then contact PlayStation Support with the same email as the account.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Stop before deleting the account or console users unless you understand what game saves and wallets will be lost.
  • Use only Sony or PlayStation official recovery pages; ignore popups that ask you to pay to unlock the account.

Follow these steps

  1. Start the official password reset

On the PlayStation console or the official PlayStation account website, choose forgot password or reset password and enter the PSN email or username for the account.

You should see: PlayStation sends a reset path or shows the next verification step for that account.

  2. Recover by email before date of birth

Complete any email or device verification first. Only enter a date of birth if the official flow requires it, and try the birth date originally used when the account was created, not today’s date.

You should see: Either the reset continues, or the date-of-birth step clearly fails.

  3. Use a previously signed-in device if available

If another console, browser, or phone app is still signed in to the same PSN account, start account recovery or password change from that device so PlayStation can recognize a trusted session.

You should see: You reach account settings or a recovery option without depending only on the wrong DOB.

  4. Contact PlayStation Support with the account email

If date-of-birth verification still blocks you, contact PlayStation Support through the official support site and use the same email address as the PSN account. Provide purchase history or other ownership details they request; do not send passwords.

You should see: Support can verify ownership and help reset access when the stored DOB is incorrect.

Extra tips

What to look for: Incorrect password messages, a date-of-birth challenge with no success, and whether the account email or Online ID is still known.

Before you change anything: Use only the official PlayStation or Sony account website or console sign-in screens. Prefer a device or browser that has signed in to this PSN account before. Write down the account email or Online ID before contacting support. Never share passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
