How do I create a new Amazon account on a phone or tablet?

Answer

Open the official Amazon app or amazon.com, choose Create account, then enter your name, email, and a password you will remember. Finish any verification prompts only on the official Amazon screen.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock or create an Amazon account, or to install unknown software.

Follow these steps

  1. Open official Amazon sign-in

On your iPhone, iPad, or Echo Show, open the Amazon app or go to amazon.com. If you see Sign in, look for Create your Amazon account or New to Amazon? Create an account.

You should see: You reach Amazon’s account creation form, not a third-party website.

  2. Enter your name and email

Type your name and the email address you will use for Amazon. Double-check the spelling of the email before continuing.

You should see: Amazon accepts the email or explains if that address already has an account.

  3. Create a password and finish setup

Create a password you will remember, then follow the on-screen prompts to verify the email or phone number and complete account setup.

You should see: The account is created and you are signed in, or Amazon asks for one more verification step on the same official screen.

  4. Return to the device that needed the account

If you created the account on a phone or computer for an Echo Show, go back to the Echo or Amazon app and sign in with the same email and password.

You should see: The Echo Show or Amazon app accepts the new account and continues setup.

Extra tips

What to look for: An official Amazon Create account or Register screen asking for name, email, and password—not a random popup or text link

Before you change anything: Use the Amazon app from the App Store or the official amazon.com website in a browser. Have an email address you can open to receive a confirmation code. Choose a unique password you can store safely; do not reuse an old password from another site. Never share that password or a one-time code with anyone who calls or messages you unexpectedly.
