Use the Uber app trip receipt to contact the driver about a lost item, and separately try Find My or Google Find My Device from another phone or computer.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Erasing the phone remotely can stop future location updates if you still hope to recover it.
Follow these steps
Open the trip in Uber Activity
From another device, sign into Uber, open Account or Activity, and select the trip where the phone was left.
You should see: The correct trip receipt is open.
Report a lost item to the driver
Use Contact driver about a lost item or the equivalent help option, describe the phone, and follow Uber’s prompts for return coordination.
You should see: The driver is notified through Uber’s official messaging path.
Try locating the phone with Find My tools
On iPhone, use Find My from another Apple device or iCloud.com. On Android, use Google Find My Device. Mark the phone lost if the option exists.
You should see: You see a location or last-seen status for the missing phone.
Protect the account while you wait
Change important passwords from another device if needed, and ask your carrier to suspend service if theft becomes likely.
You should see: Accounts and the phone line are protected during recovery.
Follow through on return logistics
If the driver confirms they have the phone, use Uber’s guidance for pickup or delivery and document any return fee Uber shows in-app.
You should see: A clear return plan is set through the official trip tools.

Extra tips
What to look for: The recent Uber trip in Activity, a Contact driver about lost item option, and the phone appearing in Find My or Google’s device finder.
Before you change anything: Access Uber from another phone, tablet, or computer. Have the approximate trip time ready. Enable Lost Mode on an iPhone if Find My is available. Do not share one-time passcodes with anyone claiming they found the phone.
