How do I stop Audien Atom Pro 2 hearing aids from squealing?
Answer
Squealing on Atom Pro 2 aids is usually feedback from a poor seal, high volume, or a hand/clothing near the microphone. Lower volume before inserting, try a different dome size for a better seal, and avoid covering the mic once the aids are seated.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- This is general device-fit guidance, not personalized medical care—seek a clinician for pain, drainage, or sudden hearing loss.
- Forcing an oversized dome can irritate the ear canal.
Follow these steps
Insert at the lowest volume
Turn volume all the way down before placing each aid, seat it fully, then raise volume one step at a time using the beeps as a guide.
You should see: Feedback is gone at a usable low or mid volume.
Try a different dome size
Swap to a slightly larger or smaller dome for a tighter seal. You can use different sizes per ear if needed.
You should see: A better seal reduces or stops squealing.
Keep hands and hats off the mic area
After seating, avoid cupping the ear or brushing clothing against the microphone openings, which can trigger feedback.
You should see: Squealing no longer starts from nearby hand movement.
Clean wax and retest
Remove domes and clean wax guards or openings as shown in the Audien guide, then retest at level 1.
You should see: Feedback improves after cleaning, or continues and needs Audien support.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether squealing starts when the aid is not fully seated, when you cup your hand over it, or even at the lowest volume beep setting.
Before you change anything: Wash hands before handling domes. Have spare dome sizes if they were included. Turn volume down before removing aids from your ears. Do not insert tools deep into the speaker opening.
