How do you add an Alexa Show after changing email and phone number?

Answer

Sign in to the Alexa app with the updated Amazon account email, complete any verification using the new phone number, then put the Echo Show into setup mode and add it from Devices.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Never share Amazon two-step verification codes with unexpected callers.
  • Resetting an Echo Show removes its previous account link and Wi-Fi settings.

Follow these steps

  1. Sign in to Alexa with the updated account

Open the Alexa app, sign out if an old session remains, and sign in with the new Amazon email and password.

You should see: The app home loads under the updated account.

  2. Complete Amazon identity verification

If prompted, approve the email or SMS code sent to your new phone number before continuing device setup.

You should see: Amazon accepts verification and returns you to the Alexa app.

  3. Put the Echo Show in setup mode

Power the Echo Show and follow on-screen setup until it says it is ready to connect, or use the device reset button if it was previously registered elsewhere.

You should see: The Show displays a setup or ready-to-connect screen.

  4. Add the device in the Alexa app

Tap Devices > Add Device > Amazon Echo and follow prompts to select the Echo Show and join your Wi-Fi.

You should see: The new Echo Show appears in your device list.

  5. Test voice and display

Ask a simple question and open a skill or calendar tile to confirm the additional Show is linked to the updated account.

You should see: The Show responds and shows content without account errors.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the Alexa app shows the new email, and any identity verification prompts during device setup.

Before you change anything: Confirm you can sign in to Amazon with the new email. Have the new phone nearby for OTP codes. Place the Echo Show on power near your Wi-Fi router.
