Why won't Kindle Unlimited books open on a Samsung phone?
Answer
When only Kindle Unlimited titles fail, the usual fix is updating the Kindle app and removing/redownloading the affected KU books, then verifying the Unlimited subscription is active.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Signing out can remove offline downloads until you fetch them again.
Follow these steps
Update the Kindle app
Open the Play Store, update the Kindle app, then force-close and reopen it.
You should see: The app is current and ready to retry Unlimited titles.
Remove and redownload the failing KU book
Open the affected Unlimited book’s details, remove the downloaded copy from the device, then download it again.
You should see: The book opens, or the same unable-to-open error returns.
Verify Kindle Unlimited on Amazon
In a browser, sign in to your Amazon account membership settings and confirm Kindle Unlimited is active and not past due.
You should see: Unlimited shows active, or you renew/fix billing.
Sign out and back into Kindle if needed
In the Kindle app settings, sign out, sign back in with the correct Amazon account, then redownload a KU title.
You should see: Unlimited books open under the restored account session.

Extra tips
What to look for: Unable to open errors on Unlimited titles only, while paid books still work
Before you change anything: Confirm which titles are Unlimited vs purchased. Use the official Kindle app from Google Play. Have your Amazon login available on a browser if needed. Do not uninstall before noting which books fail.
