How long does it take to keep a phone number when switching to Rogers?

Answer

Keeping a number when moving to Rogers is a wireless port. After any required authorization text is approved, ports often finish within minutes to a couple of hours, though some transfers take longer.

Follow these steps

  1. Approve the authorization text

If Rogers or the other carrier sends a text asking to authorize the number transfer, reply with the requested YES or confirmation from the phone that received it.

You should see: The port is authorized and moves from pending to in progress.

  2. Wait through the normal port window

Allow time for the wireless port to finish. Many complete within minutes to a few hours after authorization; avoid repeatedly swapping SIMs during that window.

You should see: The number begins working on the Rogers line.

  3. Check status in the Rogers account

Sign in to the official Rogers account or app and look for transfer, port, or activation status for the line.

You should see: The account shows completed service, or a clear pending state.

  4. Contact Rogers if the number still fails after several hours

If the number is still not working after the expected window, contact Rogers support with the order details and old carrier account information used for the port.

You should see: Support identifies a rejected port reason or completes the transfer.

Extra tips

What to look for: An authorization text from the carrier, temporary no-service on the old or new line, and confirmation in the Rogers account that the port is in progress or complete

Before you change anything: Keep both the old and new SIMs or eSIMs available until the port finishes. Do not cancel the old account early if the donor carrier still must release the number. Have the account PIN or port-out info from the old carrier ready if asked. Avoid third-party “port unlock” services.
