Why is WhatsApp not receiving the SMS activation code on Rogers?
Answer
First confirm ordinary SMS works, then restart the phone and verify the Rogers SIM is selected for messaging. If SMS still fails, check or reset the SMSC number with Rogers and retry WhatsApp after a short wait.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Never share a WhatsApp verification code with callers or chat contacts claiming they can activate the account for you.
Follow these steps
Test normal SMS
Open Messages and send a text to a person you know, then ask them to reply.
You should see: Ordinary SMS works both ways, or it fails and points to a carrier/SMS issue.
Confirm the Rogers SIM for texts
Go to Settings > SIMs / Mobile networks and make sure the Rogers SIM is selected for SMS and mobile data as needed.
You should see: Rogers is the active line for messaging.
Restart and retry WhatsApp
Restart the phone, open WhatsApp, and request a new code. Wait for the SMS without leaving the screen too quickly.
You should see: The code arrives, or WhatsApp still times out.
Check SMSC with Rogers
If SMS still fails, contact Rogers or check their documented SMSC/settings reset steps for your phone, then test SMS again before another WhatsApp request.
You should see: SMS resumes and WhatsApp can verify.

Extra tips
What to look for: WhatsApp waiting for a code, a security reasons login message, full signal with Rogers shown, and whether regular texts send and receive.
Before you change anything: Have a second phone number available to test ordinary SMS. Do not share the WhatsApp code with anyone who messages or calls you. Avoid unofficial WhatsApp APKs. Keep the Rogers SIM seated firmly.
