How do I install the daisy wheel in a Brother GX-6750 typewriter?

Answer

Use the complete compatible cassette daisy wheel. Open the cover, release the locking lever, seat the cassette gently, and lock it before testing. If the wheel has been dismantled or damaged, ask Brother to confirm a replacement rather than forcing loose parts into the machine.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Keep fingers clear of the moving carrier and close the cover before testing.

Follow these steps

  1. Inspect before installation

Turn off the machine. Inspect the cassette without dismantling it. If the wheel is damaged, loose, or separated from its cassette, ask Brother to confirm a compatible replacement before installation.

You should see: You have a complete, undamaged compatible wheel ready to install, or have stopped for replacement advice.

  2. Release the lock

Follow Brother’s illustrated GX-6750 installation guide. Open the top cover and pull the locking lever toward you. Remove an existing cassette by its protruding ear at the upper right.

You should see: The cassette slot is accessible and the lock is released.

  3. Seat and secure the cassette

Insert the cassette into the slot and press gently downward. Slide the lever back into its original position, pressing firmly to lock it. Stop if the cassette will not seat without force; compare it with the official illustrations.

You should see: The cassette is seated and secured.

  4. Close and test

Close the cover and turn on the machine. Hold CODE and press Q to return the carrier. Insert paper and type a short test. If characters are missing or incorrect, stop and use Brother’s troubleshooting guidance rather than dismantling the wheel.

You should see: The carrier returns and the machine prints the characters you type.

Extra tips

What to look for: A complete cassette, its protruding handling ear, and the daisy-wheel lock lever.

Before you change anything: Confirm GX-6750 on the machine label. Keep the wheel and any removed packaging or casing together so Brother can identify what you have.
