Why can’t I get into my account on an Android phone?

Answer

Restart the phone, reopen the official app or website, and use Forgot Password only on that company’s real sign-in page. Most lockouts are a wrong password, a temporary lock after failed attempts, or signing into the wrong email—not a need to pay for account recovery.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock an account or install unknown software.
  • Stop before deleting the app’s data or removing the Google account from the phone unless you understand what will be signed out.

Follow these steps

  1. Restart the phone

Restart the Samsung or other Android phone, then reopen the same official app or website and try signing in once with the known email and password.

You should see: Sign-in works, or the same failure returns with a clearer message.

  2. Confirm the account identifier

Check that you are using the correct email, phone number, or username for that service. Try any alternate email you commonly use before resetting.

You should see: You identify the right login, or every identifier fails the same way.

  3. Use Forgot Password on the official page

In the official app or website, tap Forgot Password or Reset Password and follow the email or SMS recovery steps. Do not use reset links from unexpected texts.

You should see: You receive a legitimate reset message and can create a new password.

  4. Check for a temporary lock

If the app says the account is locked or too many attempts were made, wait the stated time, then sign in with the new or correct password once.

You should see: The lock clears, or official support is needed to restore access.

  5. Use the provider’s official account recovery

For Google accounts, use Google’s official account recovery flow in a browser. For other apps, use that company’s official help pages only.

You should see: Recovery succeeds, or the provider explains what proof is still required.

Extra tips

What to look for: Any incorrect password message, account locked text, or verification prompt, plus whether this is a Google account or another app’s login.

Before you change anything: Write down the exact app or website you cannot enter. Confirm you are on the official app or site before resetting anything. Have access to the recovery email or phone number if possible. Never share passwords or codes with unexpected callers.
