Why can’t I sign in to a PlayStation account on a PS5?
Answer
PlayStation sign-in failures are often temporary network or account-security holds. Signing in at account.sony.com to clear a required password change, then retrying on the PS5 without a VPN, usually fixes it.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not share PlayStation passwords or one-time codes with anyone who messages unexpectedly about account recovery.
Follow these steps
Check PlayStation Network status
On another device, open PlayStation’s official service status page and confirm account and gaming services are up.
You should see: Either an outage explains the failure, or services appear normal.
Complete required password changes on the web
On a computer or phone, sign in at the official PlayStation account site, complete any forced password reset using the email inbox, and confirm the new password works on the website.
You should see: The account accepts the updated password off-console.
Disable VPN or special network filters
Turn off VPN, proxy, or similar filtering on the network path the PS5 uses, then restart the console.
You should see: The PS5 has a clean path to PlayStation Network.
Sign out everywhere and sign in on the PS5
If the website offers sign-out of other sessions, use it, then sign in on the PS5 with the updated password.
You should see: The console signs in successfully.
