Why does Kayo Sports show a QR code when I press Join live on my TV?
Answer
The QR code is usually an account sign-in or playback authorization step—sign into Kayo on the TV (or scan once with your phone), then open the channel from the guide instead of Join live if the shortcut keeps looping.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Only scan QR codes shown by the official Kayo app on your TV—not codes from texts or strangers.
Follow these steps
Sign out and sign back into Kayo
Open Kayo on the TV, find Account or Settings, sign out, then sign in again with your Kayo credentials or by scanning the sign-in QR code once.
You should see: Kayo shows you as signed in on the TV profile.
Open the event from the guide
From Kayo Home or the live guide, select the same channel or event directly instead of pressing Join live first.
You should see: Playback starts without looping on a QR wall.
Complete any one-time scan prompt
If Kayo still shows scan to start watching, open the camera on your phone, scan the code, and approve watching on the TV in the phone browser/app.
You should see: The TV is authorized and the stream plays.
Force-stop and reopen Kayo
On Google TV, go to Settings > Apps > Kayo > Force stop, then reopen Kayo and try the guide path again.
You should see: A fresh app session plays live video.
Update the Kayo app
Open Google Play on the TV, check for a Kayo update, install it, and retry.
You should see: An updated Kayo build removes the stuck Join live handoff.

Extra tips
What to look for: A scan to start watching QR code that appears only in Kayo, especially after Join live
Before you change anything: Have your Kayo login available on a phone. Confirm other streaming apps on the TV still work. Use only the official Kayo app.
