Why is there no access codes option in a smart lock app?
Answer
Access codes are usually restricted to the account that owns the device — shared or guest users often see user management but not code creation. Confirm you are signed in as the owner, then check the lock itself supports codes, since app menus are shared across models that do not all have keypads.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Never give a lock code or app password to someone who contacts you claiming to be support.
Follow these steps
Check your permission level
Open the device settings and look at how your account is listed — owner, admin, or guest.
You should see: You know whether you have the rights to manage codes.
Ask the owner to upgrade you
If you are a shared user, the account owner can change your access level or create the code for you.
You should see: The option appears, or a code is issued to you.
Confirm the model supports codes
Check the lock's product page. Apps are shared across ranges, and models without a keypad have no code feature.
You should see: You know whether the feature exists on your hardware.
Update the app and lock firmware
Install any pending app update and check for firmware in the device settings. Features are sometimes added by update.
You should see: Both report up to date.
Sign out and back in
Sign out of the app fully, then sign back in so permissions refresh.
You should see: The menu reflects your current access level.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether your name appears as owner or as a shared user in the device's settings, and whether the lock has a physical keypad at all.
Before you change anything: Have the account holder available if the device was shared with you, since only they can change your permission level.
