Why won't the TVNZ+ app load on a Samsung Smart TV?
Answer
When TVNZ+ fails to load on a Samsung Smart TV, the cause is usually a stuck Smart Hub session, outdated TV software, or a corrupted app install—not the TVNZ account itself. Power-cycle the TV, check for a Samsung software update, then reinstall TVNZ+.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- A full TV factory reset erases apps and accounts and should be a last resort.
- Only download TVNZ+ from the official Samsung app store on the TV.
Follow these steps
Power-cycle the TV
Turn the Samsung TV off, unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds, plug it back in, then turn it on and open TVNZ+ again.
You should see: The Smart Hub restarts cleanly and TVNZ+ either loads or shows a clearer error.
Install Samsung software updates
Go to Settings, Support, Software Update, and install any available update. Restart the TV when the update finishes.
You should see: The TV reports it is up to date, or a pending update installs successfully.
Reinstall TVNZ+
Open the app list, find TVNZ+, choose Update if available, or delete and reinstall it from the Samsung app store, then sign in again.
You should see: TVNZ+ opens to the normal home or sign-in screen.

Extra tips
What to look for: A Platform not initialized message, a spinning load that never finishes, or TVNZ+ crashing back to the Smart Hub home screen.
Before you change anything: Note whether other streaming apps still work. Stay on your home Wi-Fi during updates. Do not factory reset the TV as a first step. Have the TVNZ login ready if the app asks you to sign in again.
