How do I get back to a chat page I closed on my phone?

Reopen the same chat app from your home screen or app switcher, then look under Chats, Recents, or browser history if it was a web chat. If the tab was closed, the conversation usually still exists in the app’s chat list.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not enter chat passwords on look-alike websites opened from unexpected texts or ads.
- Clearing app data or reinstalling can remove local message history that is not backed up.
Follow these steps
Check the app switcher
On iPhone, swipe up and pause (or double-click Home) to open the app switcher. Tap the chat app if it is still open in the background.
You should see: The chat app returns to the last conversation or its main chat list.
Reopen from the chat list
Open the chat app from the Home Screen. Look under Chats, Messages, or Recents and tap the conversation you were using.
You should see: The same thread opens with recent messages intact.
If it was a browser chat
Open Safari (or your browser), tap the tabs button, and look for the chat site. If the tab is gone, open History and reload the site, then sign in again if needed.
You should see: The website chat loads again or shows a clear sign-in screen.
Search for the contact
Use the app’s search box for the person or group name. Avoid installing a new chat app unless you confirm the original app was deleted.
You should see: You find the existing conversation without starting a duplicate account.
