How do I assign a DID number to a Wi-Fi phone?

Answer

A DID rings a phone only after that number is routed to a SIP sub account, and the Wi-Fi phone is configured with that sub account’s username, password, and SIP server details.

Follow these steps

  1. Create or select a SIP sub account

In the VoIP provider portal, open Sub Accounts and create or select the account that will register the Wi-Fi phone.

You should see: SIP username and password details for that sub account are visible.

  2. Route the DID to the sub account

In inbound DID or call routing settings, assign the phone number so inbound calls go to that sub account or its extension.

You should see: The DID is linked to the same sub account the phone will use.

  3. Enter SIP settings on the Wi-Fi phone

On the phone, open account settings and enter the sub account SIP username, password, and the provider’s SIP server or domain values exactly as shown in the portal.

You should see: The phone shows Registered, Online, or a similar success state.

  4. Place a test call to the DID

From another phone, call the DID and confirm the Wi-Fi phone rings, then test outbound calling if needed.

You should see: Inbound calls reach the Wi-Fi phone using the assigned number.

Extra tips

What to look for: Sub account SIP credentials in the provider portal, and a registered or online status on the Wi-Fi phone after saving settings

Before you change anything: Have the provider portal login available. Copy SIP username, password, domain, and port carefully. Connect the Wi-Fi phone to stable Wi-Fi before testing calls. Do not paste credentials into unofficial websites.
