How do I fix a Samsung Smart TV app that shows Remove or a blank screen?
Answer
A blank app screen with Remove still visible usually means the app is installed but its cache or network session is stuck after the outage. Clearing the app's cache or reinstalling it from the Samsung Smart Hub often restores the picture without affecting other apps.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Removing an app deletes its local data; you may need the account password to sign in again.
Follow these steps
Confirm the TV network is working
Open Settings, then General or Network, and run a network test. Also open a different streaming app to confirm video plays.
You should see: The TV reports a good connection and at least one other app streams normally.
Force-stop or clear the problem app cache
Highlight the app, press and hold the select button on the remote, then open App info or Manage apps and choose Clear cache if available. On some models this is under Settings > Apps.
You should see: Cache clears and the app can be launched again from a clean state.
Relaunch the app
Open the app again and wait through the splash screen without pressing Home. Sign in if prompted.
You should see: The app loads its home screen instead of staying blank.
Reinstall only if the screen stays blank
Use Remove or Delete on that app, restart the TV, then reinstall the same app from the Samsung Smart Hub or Apps store and sign in again.
You should see: The freshly installed app opens and streams content.

Extra tips
What to look for: Remove or Open under the app icon, a black or empty app screen, and other apps that still stream normally on the same Wi-Fi.
Before you change anything: Confirm the TV is back online and other apps can stream. Note the exact app name (for example Frndly TV) before removing it. Sign-in details for that app should be available if a reinstall is needed. Never share account passwords with unexpected callers claiming they can fix your TV.
