How do I fix a Facebook login page that will not respond on Android?
Answer
When the Facebook login screen freezes or ignores taps on Android, the app is often stuck rather than the password being wrong. A full phone restart, then Force stop on the Facebook app, usually restores a working login screen.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock Facebook or install unknown software.
- Clearing app data signs you out of Facebook on that phone; use Clear cache first when possible.
Follow these steps
Restart the phone
Power the phone completely off, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on and open Facebook again.
You should see: The login screen loads and responds to taps, or the same freeze returns.
Force stop Facebook
Go to Settings, then Apps, then Facebook, then tap Force stop. Confirm if asked.
You should see: Facebook is fully closed and no longer running in the background.
Open Facebook and try again
Launch Facebook from the app drawer and try signing in once. If the screen still freezes, open Settings > Apps > Facebook > Storage and clear cache only (not data yet).
You should see: The login page accepts input, or cache clear is ready as the next step.
Update or reinstall if it still freezes
In the Play Store, update Facebook if an update is available. If login still will not respond, uninstall Facebook, reinstall from the Play Store, and sign in on the official app only.
You should see: A fresh Facebook install shows a working login screen.

Extra tips
What to look for: A Facebook login screen that does not advance after tapping Log in, with no new error text, after multiple attempts on Android.
Before you change anything: Confirm you are using the official Facebook app or facebook.com, not a lookalike app. Write down any exact error text if one appears later. Avoid third-party “account unlock” sites or callers asking for your password. Never share passwords or one-time codes with unexpected contacts.
