How do I recover a Google account when I forgot the password and my phone number changed?

Use a computer where Gmail is still signed in if you have one, or start Google’s official account recovery and update the phone number after you regain access. Check Chrome’s saved passwords only on your own device as a possible way to recall the old password.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not share one-time codes, passwords, or remote access with anyone who calls or messages you about unlocking your Google account.
- Google may deny recovery if it cannot verify it is really you; there is no official paid shortcut to bypass that check.
Follow these steps
Use a PC that is already signed in
On the Windows PC where Gmail or Chrome is still signed into that Google account, open myaccount.google.com. You should reach Security settings without entering the forgotten password.
You should see: You are inside the Google Account security page while still signed in.
Change the password while signed in
Go to Security → How you sign in to Google → Password, and set a new password. Stay on this device until the change confirms.
You should see: The new password saves and can be used on other devices.
Update the recovery phone number
Still under Security → How you sign in to Google, open Recovery phone, remove the old number if needed, and add your current number. Complete the SMS confirmation.
You should see: The new phone number is listed as a recovery option for future codes.
If you are fully signed out, start Account Recovery
On a browser, go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery, enter the email address, and choose Try another way when the old phone is offered. Follow Google’s prompts using recovery email, older passwords, or devices you used before.
You should see: Google either restores access or clearly states recovery is not possible with the information provided.
Check Chrome saved passwords on your own PC
If you previously saved the password in Chrome on this PC, open Chrome → Settings → Passwords and autofill → Google Password Manager, find the Google/Gmail entry, and reveal it with your Windows login. Try that password on the official Google sign-in page.
You should see: You recover the stored password or confirm it is not saved, then continue with Account Recovery.
