How do I request an Apple refund when the App Store says this is the only method?

Answer

Use Apple’s official Report a Problem page or Media & Purchases purchase history on the signed-in Apple ID. That is the normal path for App Store, subscription, and media refunds; outcome is not guaranteed, but other unofficial “refund services” should be ignored.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Never give your Apple ID password or verification codes to someone offering to get a refund for you.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Report a Problem

On a computer or phone browser, go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple ID used for the purchase. Alternatively on iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → Purchase History.

You should see: A list of recent Apple purchases appears.

  2. Select the purchase

Find the app, subscription, or media item, choose Report a Problem, and pick the reason that best matches the situation.

You should see: Apple accepts the request form for that item.

  3. Submit and save the case

Submit the request and keep any confirmation email or on-screen case status. Do not repeatedly resubmit the same item unless Apple asks for more information.

You should see: The purchase shows a pending refund review status or a clear decision.

  4. Manage the subscription if needed

If the issue is an ongoing subscription, also open Subscriptions in Settings or account.apple.com and cancel or change renewal if you no longer want future charges.

You should see: Future billing stops on the date Apple shows, separate from any refund decision.

Extra tips

What to look for: The purchase listed under the correct Apple ID, a Report a Problem link, and any status such as Pending or Declined after submitting.

Before you change anything: Confirm which Apple ID email made the charge. Have the approximate purchase date and app/subscription name ready. Do not share the Apple ID password with refund “helpers.” Avoid canceling related subscriptions until you understand billing dates if you still need access.
