Accounts & Passwords

Why can't an exercise bike account password be changed while the monitor keeps cycling?

Answer

A cycling monitor usually means the console is stuck in a reconnect/update loop, which also blocks account settings. Stabilize the bike’s network connection or use the companion app/website on a phone or computer to change the password instead of fighting the console UI.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • A console factory reset can remove local profiles and require full account setup again; change the password on the web first.
  • Only use the brand’s official app or website for password changes—not links from unexpected emails.

Follow these steps

  1. Change the password off the bike

On a phone or computer, open the official account website or app for the bike service. Use Forgot password / account settings there to set a new password.

You should see: The website or app confirms the password was updated.

  2. Stabilize the bike network

On the console, forget and rejoin Wi-Fi, or reboot the home router. Keep the bike within strong signal range and pause any console software update until sign-in works.

You should see: The monitor stays on a stable home or workout screen instead of looping.

  3. Sign in again on the console

Sign out if possible, then sign in with the new password. If the UI still cycles, power-off the bike at the switch or outlet for 60 seconds and retry once.

You should see: The console stays signed in with the updated password.

  4. Update console software after login

Once signed in successfully, allow any pending console updates to finish without interrupting power.

You should see: Updates complete and the monitor no longer loops through reconnect screens.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the console repeatedly shows signing in, updating, or Wi-Fi reconnect screens, and whether the same account can be opened in the brand’s phone app or website.

Before you change anything: Confirm the bike brand and whether an iFIT, Peloton, NordicTrack, or similar account is involved. Use a phone hotspot only if home Wi-Fi is unstable, then switch back. Do not factory-reset the console until the password is changed elsewhere. Never give the account password or codes to unexpected callers.
