Why can't I make or receive calls on AT&T Mobility wireless?

Answer

This usually means the wireless voice line is not fully registered on the network, the Mobility modem or phone needs a restart, or there is a local AT&T outage—not a Spectrum Wi‑Fi problem.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Treat unexpected offers to fix your phone line for a fee as suspicious.

Follow these steps

  1. Check signal and power

Confirm the AT&T phone or Mobility modem is powered on and shows cellular signal or normal status lights for voice service.

You should see: The device has power and either shows signal or a clear fault you can report.

  2. Restart the voice device

Power the phone or modem fully off, wait about 60 seconds, turn it back on, and wait a few minutes before testing calls.

You should see: Voice works again, or the same failure returns after reconnecting.

  3. Test with another handset if possible

If available, try the active SIM or line on another compatible phone to see whether the problem follows the line or one device.

You should see: You can tell whether the issue is the account/line or the hardware.

  4. Check for an AT&T outage

Use AT&T's official status tools for your area, or ask whether neighbors on AT&T also have voice problems.

You should see: You know if a wider outage is affecting calls.

  5. Ask AT&T to verify voice provisioning

If voice still fails with no outage, contact AT&T wireless support through official channels and ask them to verify voice service on the Mobility line.

You should see: AT&T confirms line status, resets provisioning, or schedules repair.

Extra tips

What to look for: Busy signal on outbound calls, callers told you cannot be reached, and signal or status lights on the AT&T phone or Mobility modem

Before you change anything: Confirm the problem is voice on AT&T Mobility, not Spectrum Cable TV or Wi‑Fi. Note whether mobile data still works while voice fails. Check AT&T's official outage tools before replacing hardware. Never share account passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
