Why did a Fitbit stop tracking walks on a Galaxy phone?
Answer
Approve any Fitbit app permission banners, restart the phone and watch, then sync or re-pair in the Fitbit app. On Galaxy phones, disable battery optimizations for Fitbit so activity tracking can continue in the background.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Unpairing may require re-setup; sync first if the watch still connects.
Follow these steps
Fix Fitbit app permissions
Open the Fitbit app and approve any fix-permissions banner. In Android Settings, allow Location, Bluetooth, and Physical activity for Fitbit, and exempt Fitbit from battery optimization.
You should see: Permissions are granted and battery restrictions are off for Fitbit.
Restart phone and watch
Restart the Galaxy phone and reboot the Fitbit, then open the app and try a manual sync.
You should see: Sync succeeds or a clear pair error remains.
Re-pair if sync still fails
In the Fitbit app, remove or forget the watch connection if needed, then pair again with the watch nearby and responsive.
You should see: The watch pairs without the couldn't pair error.
Start a test walk exercise
On the Fitbit, start a Walk exercise for a few minutes, then sync and confirm the activity appears in the app.
You should see: Walk tracking records again end-to-end.
