How do I pair a Fitbit Versa 4 that will not connect?

Answer

Install the Fitbit app, restart the phone and Versa 4, then pair from the app while approving Bluetooth, notification, and location prompts.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Unpairing can remove watch data that has not synced to your Fitbit account.

Follow these steps

  1. Install or update the Fitbit app

On the phone, install or update the Fitbit app from the official App Store or Play Store, then sign in.

You should see: The Fitbit app opens and is ready to add a device.

  2. Restart the phone and Versa 4

Restart the phone. On the Versa 4, follow Fitbit’s restart steps (usually hold buttons until the logo appears), then unlock the phone again.

You should see: Both devices are freshly restarted.

  3. Start pairing in the Fitbit app

In the Fitbit app, choose to add a Versa 4 and keep the watch near the phone. Approve Pair, Bluetooth, notification, and location prompts when shown.

You should see: The app finds the Versa 4 and continues setup.

  4. Finish permissions and sync

Allow any remaining prompts, wait for the first sync to finish, then open a watch app such as weather to confirm data appears.

You should see: The watch stays connected and apps sync.

  5. Forget and retry if it still fails

If pairing stalls, forget any Versa entry in phone Bluetooth settings, restart both devices again, and repeat in-app pairing.

You should see: A clean pairing session completes.

Extra tips

What to look for: Pair prompts in the Fitbit app, and whether the Versa 4 appears during in-app pairing

Before you change anything: Charge the Versa 4. Use the Fitbit app (or Google’s current Fitbit/ Pixel Watch companion path for your phone). Avoid pairing only from the phone Bluetooth list.
