Why is there no cell service in Canada on a US phone plan?

Seeing Canadian networks without registering usually means roaming is not enabled or the account is not eligible for Canada roaming. Use Wi-Fi to contact the US carrier, enable roaming if offered, or install a Canada-capable travel eSIM.

Follow these steps
Contact the US carrier over Wi-Fi
Using Wi-Fi, open the carrier’s app or website chat and ask them to enable Canada roaming or explain eligibility blocks on the account.
You should see: The carrier confirms whether roaming can be turned on or why it is blocked.
Enable roaming settings on the phone
In Mobile network settings, turn on Data roaming if the carrier authorized it, then toggle Airplane Mode for 15 seconds and retry automatic or manual network selection.
You should see: The phone registers on a Canadian partner network, or still fails in a way the carrier can interpret.
Try manual network selection
Turn off automatic network selection, wait for Rogers, Bell, or other listed operators, and select one the carrier supports.
You should see: Registration succeeds on an allowed partner, or every option is rejected.
Use a travel eSIM if roaming stays blocked
If the US plan cannot roam, buy a reputable Canada/US travel eSIM, install it, and set it as the data line while keeping Wi-Fi calling options in mind.
