Why won't an Amazon Fire Stick accept my PIN?

Follow these steps
Verify the Parental Controls PIN on Amazon
On a phone or computer, sign into Amazon, go to Your Account, then Content Library, Preferences, and Parental Controls. Confirm or reset the PIN there.
You should see: You know the current parental controls PIN for that Amazon account.
Restart the Fire Stick
Unplug the Fire Stick from power for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, wait for it to boot, and enter the PIN again.
You should see: The PIN is accepted, or the incorrect-PIN message continues.
Confirm the signed-in Amazon account
On the Fire Stick, open Settings > My Account (or Account) and confirm the email matches the account where you set the PIN.
You should see: The stick is on the correct Amazon account.
Deregister and register again if needed
If the PIN still fails, deregister the Fire Stick from Settings, then register it again with the correct Amazon account and retry the PIN.
You should see: The stick uses the updated account settings and accepts the PIN.
