How do I cancel a Netflix automatic monthly payment?

Answer

Sign in at netflix.com, open Account > Membership, and cancel membership. If you cannot remember the email, use Netflix sign-in help with the payment method details tied to the account.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Avoid third-party “cancel for you” sites that ask for your Netflix password.

Follow these steps

  1. Sign in or recover the account

Go to netflix.com and sign in. If you do not remember the email, open Netflix sign-in help and use account recovery with the phone number or payment method on the account.

You should see: You access the Netflix account that owns the membership.

  2. Open Membership settings

Select Account, then Membership or Membership & Billing.

You should see: You see plan details and cancel options.

  3. Cancel membership

Choose Cancel Membership and confirm. Also turn off any listed extra that bills about $3.49 if it appears separately and you want it removed before the period ends.

You should see: Netflix shows a confirmation and an end date for paid access.

  4. Confirm the card stops renewing

Check email for Netflix’s cancellation confirmation and watch the next statement cycle. If a charge posts after the end date, contact Netflix billing from the official Help Center.

You should see: Auto-renew is off and unexpected new charges can be disputed with Netflix.

Extra tips

What to look for: A recurring Netflix charge on a credit card and a need to stop auto-pay.

Before you change anything: Have a possible email, phone number, or the card used for Netflix ready. Use only netflix.com or the official app. Screenshot the cancellation confirmation.
