How do you file an Asurion claim for a lost iPhone?

Answer

Start the lost-phone claim online through your carrier or Asurion portal, then contact a representative only if the claim stalls. Mark the iPhone as Lost in Find My before sharing claim details.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Erasing the iPhone remotely removes Find My tracking; only erase after recovery looks unlikely and the claim process allows it.

Follow these steps

  1. Secure the lost iPhone in Find My

On another Apple device or iCloud.com, open Find My, select the lost iPhone, choose Mark As Lost, and leave a contact number. Do not erase yet if you still hope to recover it.

You should see: The iPhone shows as Lost and requires a passcode if found.

  2. Start the claim online

Open your carrier’s lost/stolen or Asurion claim page from the official website or app. Report the phone as lost and follow the replacement prompts.

You should see: You receive a claim or case number and next steps.

  3. Contact a representative if needed

If the site cannot complete the claim, use the official support phone or chat on the same carrier or Asurion site. Give the claim number and account info they ask for—never your Apple ID password.

You should see: An agent confirms the claim status or helps finish filing.

  4. Ask about suspending service

Ask the carrier to suspend the line or block the SIM so the lost phone cannot make calls or use data. Confirm how to restore service on a replacement.

You should see: The lost line is suspended or the SIM is blocked pending replacement.

Extra tips

What to look for: You need to report a lost iPhone for insurance or carrier protection and either cannot finish the online claim or were told to speak with a representative.

Before you change anything: Have your account PIN or policy number ready. Note the IMEI from Settings > General > About or the original box. Use Find My to mark the iPhone as Lost if you still can. Use only official Asurion or carrier pages—not unexpected texts or popups.
