What should I do if a phone shipment shows Out for Delivery but never arrives?

Answer

Refresh tracking for exceptions, check neighbors and building receiving areas, then open a missing-package claim with the shipper and the seller the same day if the delivery window ends with no package.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not share one-time passcodes from “delivery” texts that ask you to pay a fee to release the package.

Follow these steps

  1. Re-check tracking details

Open the carrier tracking page and look for a new exception, estimated delivery change, or Delivered scan with a photo or location note.

You should see: You see the latest scan status and any delivery instructions used.

  2. Search common alternate drop spots

Check side doors, package lockers, leasing offices, and neighbors in case the parcel was left nearby despite no door knock.

You should see: You either find the package or confirm it is missing.

  3. Start a carrier trace

Use the carrier’s official missing-package or chat tool with the tracking number the same day the window ends.

You should see: A trace or ticket number is created.

  4. Notify the seller

Contact the phone seller or carrier store with the order number and tracking ticket so they can reship or refund per their policy.

You should see: The seller opens a replacement or investigation case.

Extra tips

What to look for: Tracking events such as Out for Delivery, Delivered, Exception, or a changed ETA, plus any photo proof of delivery.

Before you change anything: Have the tracking number and order number ready. Do not assume a “Delivered” scan means theft until you check alternate drop spots. Contact official carrier/seller support pages only.
