- Unofficial websites selling “activation codes” are often scams.
Follow these steps
Collect device identifiers
On the new phone open Settings > About phone and write down the IMEI. Note whether a SIM is inserted or an eSIM is listed.
You should see: You have the IMEI/SIM details support needs.
Start official activation
Open the Consumer Cellular activation site or app, or contact official support, and enter the account information plus the new IMEI—not a code from an unofficial source.
You should see: Activation begins or support issues a valid code.
Complete on-phone steps
Follow any on-screen prompts to download an eSIM or restart after SIM provisioning. Wait a few minutes for network registration.
You should see: Signal bars appear and the phone leaves a no-service state.
Test calling
Place a call to voicemail or another phone. If it fails, toggle Airplane Mode once and retest.
You should see: Outbound calls connect on Consumer Cellular.

Extra tips
What to look for: No service or No Activation Code messages, and whether the SIM/eSIM is listed on the Consumer Cellular account.
Before you change anything: Have the account number/PIN and new phone IMEI ready. Keep the old phone until the new one can call. Do not buy activation codes from random online sellers.
