List the failing functions

Back up and remove accounts
Back up data if possible, then sign out of Google or Apple accounts and turn off Find My Device or Find My iPhone before handing the phone over.

Remove removable parts
Power the phone off, then remove the case, SIM tray, and microSD card if present.
