How do I register a phone to a Samsung account?
Answer
Sign in from Settings — the account section at the top of the settings list adds the phone automatically once you sign in. If you do not have an account yet, you can create one from the same screen using an email address you control.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Never share a verification code sent to your email or phone, even with someone claiming to be support.
- Losing access to the account email can prevent recovering the phone later.
Follow these steps
Open the account section
Open Settings and tap the account area at the very top of the list, or find Accounts and backup.
You should see: A sign-in or account screen appears.
Sign in or create an account
Enter your existing details, or choose to create an account with an email address you control.
You should see: The account is signed in on the phone.
Verify the email address
Open the verification message sent to that address and confirm it. Some features stay disabled until you do.
You should see: The account shows as verified.
Turn on find-my-device
In the account settings, enable the find-my-mobile option so the phone can be located or locked if lost.
You should see: The device is listed and trackable.
Confirm backup is on
Under Accounts and backup, check that backup to the account is enabled.
You should see: The phone backs up automatically.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether the top of Settings already shows a name and email — if so, a account is already signed in and may need switching rather than adding.
Before you change anything: Use an email address you will keep long term, since account recovery and find-my-device depend on it.
