How do I unlock a Samsung phone after forgetting the PIN?

If you forgot the Samsung unlock PIN, try Google Find My Device first while the phone is online. If that cannot help, a factory reset from recovery mode will remove the PIN but usually erases local data.

- Factory reset erases local data that is not backed up to Google or another cloud service.
- Do not give verification codes to anyone who calls or messages you unexpectedly.
Follow these steps
Try Find My Device
From another device, open Google Find My Device, sign into the Google account used on the phone, select the Samsung device, and use Secure device or Erase only if you intend to wipe it.
You should see: The phone receives a lock message you can use, or a remote erase begins.
Check the lock screen once more
Look for Forgot PIN or similar after a failed attempt. If offered, sign in with Google or a previous credential.
You should see: The phone unlocks without a wipe, or no Forgot option is available.
Enter recovery mode
Power off the phone, then use the Samsung key combination for recovery mode (often Volume Up + Power, with USB connected on some models) until the Android recovery menu appears.
You should see: You see Wipe data/factory reset or Factory data reset in the menu.
Factory reset the phone
Select Wipe data/factory reset, confirm, then reboot the system when finished.
You should see: The phone starts initial setup and no longer asks for the old PIN.
Bypass Factory Reset Protection
Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with the same Google account previously used on the phone when prompted.
You should see: Setup completes and you can set a new PIN.
