How do I install Google apps when a Fairphone on /e/OS cannot use the Play Store?

Fairphone devices on /e/OS do not include the Google Play Store by default. Use the phone’s own App Lounge or another supported app source first, and only add Google services through official /e/OS or Open GApps guidance if you specifically need them.

Follow these steps

  1. Use the built-in app store first

    Open App Lounge or the default app store on /e/OS and search for the app you need before installing any Google package.

    Go to Settings > Apps > Updater, clear cache, force stop if needed, then reopen and check for /e/OS updates.

    You should see: Updater opens without immediately force-closing and can check for system updates.

  3. Decide whether Google services are required

    If the app truly needs Google Play services, review the official /e/OS or Open GApps documentation for your Fairphone model instead of installing random APKs.

  4. Install Google packages only from trusted guidance

    Follow the current /e/OS or Open GApps install steps for your version, keep installer logs if setup fails, and reboot when instructed.
