How do I remove or stop a phone number on my account?

Sign in on the official account site or app, open security or profile settings, remove or replace the phone number, and confirm via email if prompted. For mobile-carrier lines, you may need to cancel or transfer the line with the carrier, not only delete a login phone number.
Before you start: stop right away if…

Follow these steps
Identify the account type
Decide whether the number is a sign-in recovery phone (Google, Apple, email, streaming) or an active wireless line billed by a carrier.
You should see: You know which system must change.
Remove a recovery/login number
Sign in on the official account site, open Security or Personal info, choose the phone number, and remove or replace it. Complete any verification sent to email.
You should see: The old number no longer appears as a recovery method.
Stop a carrier line if needed
If you need the wireless service itself stopped, contact the mobile carrier to cancel, suspend, or transfer the line and ask for a confirmation number.
You should see: Carrier status shows suspended/canceled or moved.
Confirm the number no longer works for access
Try account recovery with the old number to ensure it fails, and confirm SMS to that line behaves as you intend.
You should see: The number can no longer reset the account, and carrier service matches the change you requested.
