How do I fix a Roborock robot vacuum that will not charge on its dock?
Answer
Start by confirming the dock has power, then check the dock cable and outlet. Next, unplug the dock for about two minutes, clean the charging contacts on the robot and the dock, and reposition the robot until the dock light shows that charging has connected. Roborock's troubleshooting steps are a good first pass, but check your own model's manual because the details vary.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Unplug the dock before cleaning its contacts. Do not spray liquid onto the dock or robot, and use only a dry cloth or a cloth lightly dampened with alcohol.
Follow these steps
Check that the dock has power
With the robot off the dock, look at the indicator light on the front of the dock. Roborock's Q7 troubleshooting guide says this light should be solid on when the robot is not docked.
You should see: The dock light is solid on. If it is off, the dock is not getting power, so go to the next step.
Check the dock cable and outlet
Push the dock's power cable firmly into the slot on the bottom of the dock and into the wall outlet. If the light still does not come on, plug the dock into a different outlet, which Roborock's guide also suggests.
You should see: The cable is fully seated at both ends, and the dock light comes on in a working outlet.
Unplug the dock for about two minutes
Unplug the charging dock from the wall and leave it unplugged for about two minutes. Plug it back in, then place the robot on the dock again.
You should see: The dock light comes back on after you plug it in, and the robot begins to charge or the light changes as described in step 5.
Clean the charging contacts
Unplug the dock. Wipe the metal charging contacts on the robot and on the dock with a dry cloth, or with a cloth lightly moistened with alcohol. For stains or rust, Roborock's guide suggests rubbing gently with an eraser. Let the contacts dry before reconnecting.
You should see: The contacts look clean and dry, with no dust, residue, or dark marks.
Reposition the robot until the dock light changes
Place the robot on the dock and nudge it slightly until it sits flush. Roborock's guide says the dock light should turn off when the robot is correctly docked, which shows the contacts are connected and charging is working.
You should see: The dock light turns off, and the robot starts charging. If the robot or app shows a charge level, it should begin to rise.
Contact the maker if the robot still will not charge
If the robot still does not charge after these steps, the dock or robot may need service. Contact Roborock support through the official website or the Roborock app, and check whether the device is still under warranty.
You should see: You have a support case or a clear answer on whether the dock or robot needs service.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether the dock light is on when the robot is not on the dock, whether it turns off when the robot is correctly docked, and whether the robot charges after you clean the contacts and reposition it.
Before you change anything: Find the model name of your robot and dock, usually on the label or in the Roborock app. Have a dry cloth and a cloth lightly dampened with alcohol ready for the contacts. Unplug the dock from the wall before you clean its contacts.
