Why does a SiriusXM car channel say Blocked?

Answer

A Blocked SiriusXM channel is usually a parental-control lock, an unpaid/unauthorized channel tier, or a temporary radio authorization issue. Check parental locks on the radio, then refresh subscription status in your SiriusXM account—do not wait for a remote “spike” from a stranger.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Ignore anyone asking you to pay outside SiriusXM to “send a spike” to your car radio.
  • Factory-resetting a car radio can remove paired phones and saved presets.

Follow these steps

  1. Check parental or channel locks on the radio

Open the SiriusXM or radio settings menu and look for Parental Control, Locked Channels, or a PIN. Disable locks for that channel if you set one previously.

You should see: The channel unlocks, or no lock setting is present.

  2. Confirm the subscription includes the channel

Sign in to your SiriusXM account, verify the plan is active for this vehicle’s Radio ID, and check whether the channel requires a higher package.

You should see: Account status matches what you expect for that channel.

  3. Refresh the radio authorization

With the vehicle on and SiriusXM tuned to an open channel or channel 0/1 per account instructions, use the official account option to refresh signal/subscription if available.

You should see: Blocked status clears after a short wait.

  4. Contact official SiriusXM support if still blocked

Use support from the official SiriusXM site or app and provide the Radio ID and channel number—do not use third-party unblock services.

You should see: Support confirms entitlements or walks through a radio reset.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether one channel or many are blocked, any parental PIN prompts, and account status for that Radio ID.

Before you change anything: Know your Radio ID and account login. Avoid sharing account access with unexpected callers offering to send a signal. Do not pay gift-card fees to “unblock” channels.
