Why does a streaming service say it is unavailable in your region?

This usually means the service now sees your connection as coming from somewhere else. Restart the router, since a new address from your provider is the most common trigger, and turn off any VPN, proxy, or privacy DNS feature — including ones built into a browser, router, or phone that you may not think of as a VPN.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not install 'region unlock' tools offered by pop-ups. They frequently carry malware.
Follow these steps
Restart the router
Power the router off for a minute. This often obtains a fresh address that is not mis-located.
You should see: The service works again after reconnecting.
Turn off VPN and proxy features
Disable any VPN app, browser VPN, or proxy on the device and on the router itself.
You should see: Traffic goes direct to your provider.
Disable private relay and encrypted DNS
Turn off private relay, secure DNS, or any custom DNS service. These are frequently mistaken for a VPN by streaming services.
You should see: DNS resolves through your own provider.
Test on mobile data
Open the service on a phone using mobile data rather than Wi-Fi.
You should see: You know whether the account or the connection is the problem.
Contact the provider
If it still fails with everything disabled, report it to your internet provider — an address block can be mis-located in the geolocation databases streaming services use.
You should see: They reassign the address or escalate it.
