Why is a streaming app stuck asking to change the plan on a TV?
Answer
The TV app is still holding the old subscription details. Sign out of the app on the television and sign back in so it collects the upgraded plan. If the prompt persists, the upgrade may have been bought through a different store than the one the TV signs in with.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Reinstalling the app signs you out, so have your details ready first.
Follow these steps
Confirm the upgrade is active
Sign in on the provider's website or a phone and check the plan shows as upgraded.
You should see: You know billing went through.
Sign out on the TV
In the app's settings on the television, sign out completely rather than just closing it.
You should see: The app returns to a sign-in screen.
Restart the TV
Unplug the television for a minute so the app cannot resume from memory.
You should see: The TV restarts cleanly.
Sign back in
Open the app and sign in with the same account the upgrade was bought on.
You should see: The upgraded plan is recognised and the prompt stops.
Check where you were billed
If it still prompts, confirm whether the upgrade was bought through an app store rather than the provider directly, and sign in by that same route.
You should see: The entitlement matches the sign-in method.

Extra tips
What to look for: Where the upgrade was actually purchased — the provider's website, an app store, or a bundled TV subscription. Billing bought through one route is not always visible to another.
Before you change anything: Have your account email and password ready, and a record of where the upgrade was purchased.
