Why won't a robot vacuum connect to the phone app?
Answer
Most pairing failures come down to the phone being on a 5 GHz Wi-Fi band the vacuum cannot use. Put the phone on the 2.4 GHz network, hold the vacuum's reset or Wi-Fi button until it announces pairing mode, and start the setup again from the app.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- A factory reset clears saved maps and schedules, so try pairing first.
Follow these steps
Put the phone on the 2.4 GHz network
In your phone's Wi-Fi settings, join the 2.4 GHz network. If both bands share one name, temporarily separate them in the router settings or use a guest 2.4 GHz network.
You should see: The phone is on a band the vacuum can also use.
Put the vacuum into pairing mode
Hold the reset or Wi-Fi button on the vacuum until it announces pairing or its indicator blinks — the exact button and duration vary, so check the model's guide.
You should see: The vacuum confirms it is waiting to connect.
Allow the app the permissions it asks for
Grant location and local network access when prompted. Pairing usually fails silently without them.
You should see: The app can see nearby devices.
Run setup again close to the router
Start setup in the app with the vacuum a few metres from the router, and enter the Wi-Fi password carefully.
You should see: The app reports the vacuum is connected.
Restart the router if it still fails
Power the router off for about thirty seconds, let it come back fully, then repeat setup once.
You should see: Pairing completes, or you have ruled the network out.

Extra tips
What to look for: A spoken prompt or a flashing light on the vacuum confirming it is waiting to pair, and which band your phone is on in Wi-Fi settings.
Before you change anything: Know your Wi-Fi password, and keep the vacuum, its dock, and the phone within a few metres of the router while pairing.
