How do I restore YouTube Premium on a Samsung TV after changing a cable box?
Answer
Open the YouTube app on the Samsung TV and select the Google Account that has Premium. A new box or a different signed-in profile may be showing a different YouTube session. Confirm this before buying another membership.
Follow these steps
Open YouTube from the TV itself
Use the Samsung remote to open Smart Hub and select YouTube. Samsung’s YouTube app guide explains this route. Note whether you had previously been opening YouTube through the cable box instead.
You should see: You know which YouTube app you are testing.
Choose the Premium account
In YouTube, open the left-hand navigation, select the profile picture, and check Accounts. Select your usual Premium account. If it is absent, choose Add account. Guest is a signed-out session. Follow the official TV sign-in instructions.
You should see: The app uses the intended Google Account.
Complete sign-in if needed
Choose Sign in with your phone and scan the QR code, or choose Sign in with your remote and follow the on-screen account prompts. If one method fails, YouTube recommends trying the other. Only complete a sign-in that you initiated on your TV.
You should see: The TV displays your selected account after sign-in.
Check benefits before changing billing
Play a video and confirm the expected Premium experience. YouTube’s supported-device guidance says Premium benefits work on supported TVs when signed into the Premium account. If the account works elsewhere but not here, note the TV app’s exact error for official support.
You should see: Premium works on the TV, or you have isolated a TV-app issue.

Extra tips
What to look for: Which device opens YouTube, the selected profile, and whether Premium works with your usual account on another device.
Before you change anything: Identify the Google Account used for Premium. Keep the phone or computer where Premium works available. Avoid starting a second subscription while checking sign-in.
