How do I stop unwanted social updates in the Venmo app?

Venmo lets you quiet notifications and limit who sees your payments, but it does not currently offer a full switch to remove the in-app social feed. Reduce noise in notification settings and set default payment privacy to Private.
Follow these steps
Silence social notifications
Open Venmo, go to the Me/profile tab, open Settings (gear), then Notifications. Turn off social, friends, likes, and marketing alerts you do not want. Also disable matching categories in iPhone or Android system notification settings for Venmo.
You should see: Push alerts about other people’s activity stop or drop sharply.
Set payments to Private
In Venmo Privacy settings, set Default privacy to Private for future payments so they are not shared to friends’ feeds.
You should see: New payments no longer appear as social updates to others.
Trim who you follow
Review friends/following lists and remove people whose activity fills your feed if you only need Venmo for payments.
You should see: The in-app feed shows less unwanted activity.
Accept feed limitations
If the Friends feed is still visible with no off switch, keep notifications disabled and use Venmo mainly from the Pay/Request screens. Check Venmo’s settings again after app updates in case privacy controls change.
You should see: You can use payments without being interrupted by social alerts.

Before you change anything: Decide whether the problem is push notifications, email alerts, or the in-app Friends feed. Note that removing the feed entirely may not be available.
