Why isn't an iPhone receiving one-time codes from a banking or Regions app?
Answer
Missing one-time codes are usually blocked SMS filtering, Do Not Disturb, a wrong phone number on the account, or the app offering email as an alternate path—not a broken iPhone radio. Confirm the number on file, check Messages filters and Focus modes, then choose “Try with email” or resend from the official app only.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Never read a one-time code to someone who calls or texts you unexpectedly. Banks and apps will not ask you to relay a code that way.
Follow these steps
Confirm the phone number on file
In the app’s security or profile settings (or from a logged-in computer), verify the mobile number matches the line in this iPhone. Update it only through the official app or site if it is wrong.
You should see: The verification screen shows the correct number ending.
Check Messages filtering and Focus
Open Messages → Filters / Unknown Senders and also Settings → Focus. Temporarily turn off Focus modes that silence unknown senders, then request a new code.
You should see: The SMS code appears in Messages, including under Filtered or Unknown Senders if applicable.
Use the official alternate method
On the verification screen, choose Try with email, voice call, or authenticator if offered. Enter codes only inside the official app screen.
You should see: A code arrives by the alternate method and sign-in continues.
Resend after a short wait
Wait the full timer before tapping Resend. Toggle Airplane Mode on for 15 seconds, turn it off, confirm cellular data or Wi-Fi, then request one more code.
You should see: A new code arrives, or the app clearly reports a delivery failure to contact support.

Extra tips
What to look for: Prompts such as “Try with email,” SMS vs push-code options, unknown Filters in Messages, and whether codes arrive to another device with the same number.
Before you change anything: Confirm you are in the official app or website, not a link from an unexpected text. Note the exact phone number ending shown on the verification screen. Do not share a code with anyone who calls or messages you first. Avoid uninstalling the banking app until another sign-in method works.
