How do I stop Yahoo Mail from opening in an unclosable pop-up on a Galaxy S24 Ultra?

This is usually Samsung multi-window or pop-up view, not a Yahoo outage. Close all browser windows, turn off Swipe for pop-up view, then clear Samsung Internet cache if the shortcut keeps forcing the floating window.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Clearing cookies can sign you out of Yahoo Mail and other websites.
  • Do not enter your email password on links sent by unexpected texts or callers.

Follow these steps

  1. Close all browser windows

    Open Recents, find Samsung Internet, and tap Close all. Then reopen Yahoo Mail once to see whether it still starts in pop-up view.

    You should see: All floating Yahoo windows close and the browser returns to a normal full-screen state.

  2. Turn off pop-up swipe gestures

    Go to Settings > Advanced features > Multi window and turn off Swipe for pop-up view or similar pop-up gestures.

    You should see: Opening the Yahoo shortcut no longer forces a floating window.

  3. Clear Samsung Internet cache

    Open Settings > Apps > Samsung Internet > Storage and tap Clear cache. If needed, also clear browsing data from Samsung Internet > Menu > Settings > Privacy.

    You should see: Yahoo Mail opens in a normal tab without the stuck secondary window.

  4. Recreate the shortcut or use the Yahoo app

    Delete the old home-screen Yahoo icon, open mail.yahoo.com in a normal tab, then add a fresh shortcut—or install the official Yahoo Mail app instead.

    You should see: Yahoo Mail opens full screen from the new shortcut or app.
